Ottawa “Poetry on Wood” Carving Show
I enjoyed the Ottawa carving show this past weekend and was happy to receive four ribbons for my entries of Hobo and Ned, and the Three Hounds: a 1st in Caricatures and a 1st in Division for Hobo and Ned; and, a 2nd in Caricatures and a 3rd in Division for the Hounds. A nice weekend and a terrific club in Ottawa.
Once again, just some beautiful carvings were shown over the weekend from about 200 carvers from Ontario and Quebec. Here is a sampling of just a few photos of the carvings that I enjoyed.
Many congratulations on winning your ribbons Mark, well deserved and again some very beautiful carvings on show, hope you had a great time.

Congrats! Looks like you had some stiff competition. I imagine it’s pretty cool seeing all the other carvings. Glad you had a nice time. And thank you again for doing such a splendid job on the hounds. I can’t wait to see them in person. 😃

Thanks Lynne. I sure did have a great time at the show. The Ottawa Carving Club is a great organization with lots of talented carvers…and they sure are welcoming. I wish that I lived closer so that I could take in their regular meetings.

Cheryl, your Hounds are coming your way shortly…thanks for the opportunity to show them off a bit. A lot of nice comments and close inspection of the Hounds this weekend, I’ll tell you. The 3rd Place Division Award was a real honour for them as it reached out beyond the Caricature category and competed with at least four other categories that had some truly outstanding carvings in them.
